Read all of this before beginning the activity for today!

On a sheet of paper please work through the follow practice questions. Clearly mark your answers on your paper to turn in for your classwork today.

Once you have completed all 66 problems or we have ran out of time, move to the library tables and get out your EOC packet for us to review together.

Today in class we went over the homework from last night and did a few of the problems on the board. Then, we took the EOC survey. Finally, we had a brief discussion on the scavenger hunt game; with two examples. Lastly, we played the scavenger hunt game which had graphing,FOIL,and the quadratic formula in one problem. The most interesting part of the day was the game because, the problems dealt with three different problems all in one.

5/26/09 – 2nd Block

Today in class we mostly reviewed over Logarithms which we covered in 1st quarter of 2nd semester. In the first part of class we received an EOC Sample test question packet. The questions that dealt with the first 15 questions were solving equations, solving logarithms, simplifing with i, expressions with i, synthetic division, foiling, radical expressions, binomial factors, and multiplying matrices. For the second part of class we LEARNED & REVIEWED over logarithms first with logarithmic form and exponential form. Logarithmic form looks like – log b^a=X. Exponential form looks like b^x=a. ^ this means to the power. Then we LEARNED about properties of logarithms and what they look like so went can identify them on the EOC which is next week for second block on friday. 3rd block takes theres on monday on june 8th and 4th block on june 9th. We also learned that some logarithms are identical to each other I mean that they ARE NOT IDENTICAL VISUALLY BUT MATHEMATICALLY THEY ARE. The first set of properties that are identical to each other log b a ^k = k * log b ^a. The second set of properties that are identical to each other are logb a * c = logb a + logb c. The third and final set of properties that look like each other are logb a/d = logb a – logb d. Then we reviewed over the produceres to take on the EOC when encountered with logarithms. When encountered with 3^x = 7. You should take the log of both sides because the variable is an exponent. When encountered with logx 64 =3 you should change the form. We also did an enrichment activity dealing with logarithmic properties and solutions towards the end of class. – John Joseph

Today in class while i was doing my worksheet bonanza packet, i learned that when solving radical expressions you should do the factor tree for each radical to get the answer. This was very confusing to me at first but now it’s pretty easy to complete the problem!

Today in class we went over the homework from last night. After That, we took a 1? Quiz on binomals. Then, we did mini lectures on Synthetic division and Factoring Polynomials. Afterwards, we did some problems on the worksheet’s that was given out. Finally the homework was assigned from the worksheets which was Pg.257 1-9 odd (#6 is bonus)

Today in class we reviewed our homework from the night before. Then we took our 1 question quiz on on on monomials. It was not too bad seeing that she did the example on the board a few minutes before in the review. Then next we did the worksheet lectures on the packet that you gave us. It was on polynomials and how to divide and factor them and what methods to use in doing that. Then for homework we were assigned 1-9 ODD on page 257 and all of 261!
This is what we did today in class.

Today we went over monomials and polynomials. We reviewd on the exponent rules used in monomials and polynomials. We took notes on monomials then, we had to choose a practice activity which was either a worksheet with practice problems or board race with practice problems. After that we took notes on polynomials. We also went over when to use the FOIL concept.

Monday we learned and practiced how to solve monomials and polynomials. We were going to do board races but then we instead worked in groups of four or less to practice and help each other out with the practice problems. We learned that when solving monomials you have to use the order of operations to help you solve, and when solving polynomials be careful of negative signs in the probelm. They might make it difficult to solve. That is what we did on monday in class!

yesterday in class we learned about monomials. we did a practice ws and worked in groups instead of board races. in order to do monomials you have to remember the order of operation and exponet rules. then we learned when you add polynomials you have to be careful about negative signs.
